Cross-training combines activities from all different types of sports and activities to create a complex workout that will confuse your muscles (a good thing) with constantly varied functional movements performed at a high intensity level. Get all that? Basically, you’ll constantly be on the move lifting weights, running, and pushing your body to the limit.
A cross-training workout constantly tests your body and gets your muscles to think differently. Your muscles must react and therefore get stronger. But it only works if you’re committed.
Determine your fitness goal and have faith that you’re tough enough to achieve it. And determination is what it takes to make it through a physically and mentally draining cross-training fitness workout.
Ultimately, it’s most convenient to get an introduction from a trainer who knows the routine, but it’s possible (and sometimes more fun) to cross-train at home. There are many programs that have predetermined workouts including the popular Crossfit®, P90X®, and Insanity® fitness routines, that use some of the same techniques to get you in shape. Research at-home videos and routines, stock up on essential gear like kettle bells, stretch bands and dumbbell sets, and start on your path to fitness in the privacy of your own home.
Because motivation and commitment to the program are the keys to success, believing in yourself is the hardest step. Make cross-training fitness your regular workout regimen, and you’ll likely be in the best shape of your life. Add a smart, nutritious diet to the mix and you’ll see results even faster.
